Internet Dating. I recently met someone who told me she met her husband on the internet. Can you imagine? Apparently a lot of people can, as there seem to be all kinds of sites devoted to finding a mate.

With that in mind, I couldn't resist creating this card. I have a feeling these would be the guys who'd answer my internet query... good thing I'm not looking!

I added this card to my section called "Understated Greetings," where I'm creating somewhat off-the-wall cards with rather sarcastic sayings on them. If you're in my Etsy shop, check 'em out!

Thanks to Carol Dean Sharpe of SandFibers for directing me to a place where I could purchase those hands used to pose jewelry! I was really tired of traipsing around in my yard trying to find photogenic plants and lawn furniture. Carol Dean's jewelry is always photographed beautifully, and it was so nice of her to tell me her source for the hands!

Just look how much nicer this
Black and White bracelet looks when it's being modeled by this perfect little hand!

The Etsy BeadWeavers Street Team, at the suggestion of Dawn Chastain, decided to begin doing monthly themed challenges. I was tagged to choose the theme for this month (probably because I was babbling away with suggestions as to how to do the challenges), and I chose Hot August Nights with no thought whatsoever of what I'd create to meet the challenge. I wasn't even sure at the point I selected that theme that I'd be able to make anything!

I had a sudden inspiration, though, probably as a result of looking at all the scenery between Tennessee/North Carolina and Illinois as we headed home from our property hunt. I created this tall, skinny pendant to look like a little landscape -- complete with grasses at the bottom, a pinkish sky across the horizon, and a dark blue sky filled with stars and the moon at the top. I'm really happy with it!

The Baby Gardner is a site owned and operated by Deanna Gardner, and it features vintage-inspired items for little ones. Deanna found my Little Girl silhouette gift tags on Etsy and contacted me about stocking them on her site. They fit in beautifully, don't you think?

Is this a vacation? We've been driving and driving and driving, covering about 1200 miles in six days. Granted, that doesn't sound like a lot, but we were on a quest to find property in Tennessee near one of the big lakes there (Tellico or Douglas), so the 1200 miles included about 600 miles of windy, twisty, gravelly, steep roads. It looks so easy presented there on the map as A-to-B-to-C-to-D, but it wasn't! Tuesday or so we'll head back to point A. :-)

After all that, it appears that we've decided not to live in Tennessee, but to continue with our plan to live near Waynesville, North Carolina, on property we purchased a few years ago. It's such a pretty piece of property, with gorgeous views and in a nice rural area where it's peaceful and quiet, and we just weren't able to find anything better. My husband's urges to fish will have to be satisfied by driving to Tellico Lake or Douglas Lake.

At Whit's End is a lovely blog filled with pictures of adorable children and funny stories. And today, Whitney (author of At Whit's End) featured my Garrulous Giraffe captioned critters mini notecards amongst some of her favorite stationery selections!

What an honor!! I love the others that were selected, so my giraffe is certainly among good company.

etsy friday. I look forward to reading Aija's posts every week. She has such great writeups and photos of the things she's bought on Etsy, and this time she featured the Asterix mini envelopes I made for her. When I was cutting up the French comic that I used for the envelopes (a damaged book I found at a used bookstore), I came across a picture that soooo reminded me of her son that I just had to turn it into cards.

Look what nice things Aija said!!! http://sockpr0n.blogspot.com/2007/08/etsy-friday_10.html

And after you're finished reading that, check out her shop. I know how to knit, but only in a straight line. But if I ever learned to knit something that required a pattern, I'd definitely get some of her stitch markers!!! :-)

The Eloquent Elephant is my latest Captioned Critter mini card. I love this guy! Someone should tell him not to talk with his mouth full, though. :-)

Argh! I'm having some frustrations with posting here. I wrote up a post earlier and it wouldn't show up. Now I've done a couple of tests and it looks as if it might be working again. I apologize to those of you who receive feeds for the weirdness...

I wanted to show off my latest Understated Greetings cards! I found this vintage image, and it just cracks me up every time I see it. He IS a snappy dresser, don't you think???

And then there was this picture of an old hand drill with a bunch of bits. And, well, you know the drill. :-) hee hee

Etsy's front page again. Hooray!!! This treasury was assembled by cindyg, and she featured my Flower Girl in the Wind pendant in the top center spot!!! How exciting. Thanks so much to Cindy for the feature!

Understated. I made a couple of new greeting cards today, using some vintage illustrations with my own twist on what the illustrations mean. Kind of silly, really, but then I've been known to be silly. As I look through the illustrations I have on hand, all sorts of odd statements come to mind... so there will probably be more understatements. These first two are on Etsy. :-)
