Inspiration can come from anywhere. I've said that before, and I'll continue to say it. I must admit that I rarely have any problem coming up with new ideas. In fact, it's quite the opposite because I see inspiration just about everywhere I look. My problem is that there's never enough time to do everything!!!
It was Saturday afternoon, and my husband asked me to help him put our canoe up on the racks on top of our van. We don't drive the van very often, so it's a good place to store it. As I was standing there, I happened to notice the row of rivets around the top of the canoe. And I started to think how neat it would look if I could design a cuff that would look like it was riveted together.
You can't really see the rivets in the picture unless you zoom way in on it. Trust me, though. They're there.
And here's what they inspired: the newly-listed Rivets in Steel cuff.
If only I could be inspired by dirty dishes or laundry... :-)

Nice colors! Steampunky colors, even.
I love the new cuff MaryLou - I agree inspiration is everywhere. I am thinking of doing some wire work again - it's been a long time for me since I did that but I am inspired to try it again.
I'm like this with fabric. I see people wearing clothing or some drapes and think how great the fabric would be for a quilt. That is a very cool cuff.
That's a great cuff MaryLou and I love the story behind it with the pic of the canoe!
Who would have thought that a canoe would have inspired such a fantastic bracelet! Great colors for Fall too. I do agree tho, I have been inspired by some very strange things too!
another gorgeous one Mary Lou!!! I just want to know.... do you stay up all night beadweaving? :-) I just cannot believe how many pieces you produce!!!! :-)
Thanks for the nice comments, everyone!
Nope, I don't stay up all night beadweaving. I've always been obsessed with speed (running, typing, reading, pretty much everything), and I'm pretty quick at peyote.
I just have so much fun doing these!
Love the cuff :)
Don't yell at me, MaryLou, but I've nominated you for the "Brillante Weblog"...more here: http://sandfibers.blogspot.com/2008/09/apologies-in-triplicate.html
I hear ya--if only I could be inspired by my messy crafting area to organize, or by the dust to vacuum--instead i'm like you--inspiration for everything but chores--lol
Cool cuff! Isn't there a law against creative people doing housework? That's my story.
Gorgeous cuff!
If you let dirty dishes and laundry be the source of inspiration, they'd be forever dirty and hat wouldn't be a good thing.
You did it again MaryLou - another great cuff. These colors are great for fall too! I could sit and look at your etsy store all day.
Cheers,
Deb:)
More fine work! I, too, gave you an award yesterday! (see my blog)
Linda
That is a neat story of inspiration...and a beautiful cuff!
Unique and beautiful. Just dropping in to say "hi" and hope to "see" you often!
I'm starting to get inspired by all kinds of things around me, but this takes the cake :) amazing
